Live in '95

(Elizabeth and James)
NYFW brought back the 90s in a major way. Not the Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy - pointy toes, bias dresses and structured coats - minimalist kind that has been going around, but a sloppy, layered, grungy, tough girl kind of 90s.
Rodarte designers Laura and Kate Mulleavy cited a Santa Cruz upbringing as inspiration for a collection that began with bodysuits and foot tattoos and ended with tie-dye gowns.

TBH, the gowns were bad. But I'm digging the ribbon chokers and saddle shoes. Philip Lim showed incredible leather coats and vests.

SNEAK PEEK! The patches reminded me of this extremely rare and collectible 'Kiss My Patch' Moschino dress.

I won't say I'm a big fan of 90s grunge but it was interesting to see how the designers interpreted it and brought it on to to the runway this time round!

At first I thought I wasn't really going to be into the 90s rerun, seeing as I lived through it once... but I have to admit, all of the sweatshirts and light denim are pretty appealing :)
